Profit potential remains….

But it's not all doom and gloom - the scope for considerable profits is still very real.

The recent spate of smart phone launches have accelerated the market forward, with Berg Insight reporting in November that there will be 70 million GPS enabled handsets sold by 2014; with revenue from subscriptions and advertising expected to reach €597 million.

PND devices continue to perform strongly with GFK reporting PNDs currently represent 9% of the Western Europe Consumer Electronic market. Furthermore, in the last quarte r PNDs increased 38% against the same period a year before.

The market is still huge and maturing, meaning navigation & location companies need to act now to ensure they consolidate their position in the market before things start to slide sharply.

Just as navigation products were crossing the line and becoming one of the essential ‘must have' consumer products the industry now needs to take definitive action.
