Navigation Day @CeBIT 2008 CONFERENCE SPEAKER PROFILES
   
As Principal Analyst Dominique Bonte is responsible for ABI Research?s global telematics and navigation coverage. His background includes extensive experience in fixed and mobile telecommunications, market research and mobile device software applications. He worked for Orange and BT, as well as holding a variety of positions at consumer/industrial technology companies assuming roles in product/marketing management and market research and intelligence. He later started his own company in software consulting for mobile devices, where he acquired extensive experience in mobile satellite navigation software. He holds an MS in electronics engineering and has earned several marketing and business degrees
     
Maarten Oldenhof is Chief Executive Offer of AND Automotive Navigation Data since 2002. With Maarten as CEO, AND Automotive Navigation Data started to focus on digital map development for in-car and personal navigation, next to the traditional on-line, logistics and GIS markets. Maarten has a Master of Business Administration. After his studies Maarten worked for the Investment Management & Consulting Group B.V as Consultant. As managing director of football club Ajax Maarten was responsible for the stock market quotation of Ajax and at Rai Exhibition centre in Amsterdam Maarten was the Managing Director Exhibitions, Multimedia & Publishing.
     

Brett Simpson, Director, Arete Research. Brett has been covering companies in mobile phones, GPS and semiconductor markets for over a decade. Before co-founding Arete in Jan'00, Brett spent two years in the no1 rated team for European technology at Goldman Sachs International. Prior to his time at Goldman, Brett had three years with Ericsson, working in a business development role covering all aspects of wireline and wireless telecom infrastructure. He holds a first-class honours degree in Technology from Robert Gordon University in UK.

     

Shiva Kalisetty is vice president of Business Development for ATX, a provider of customized telematics services to the automotive industry, based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and D?seldorf, Germany. In his role at ATX, his expertise is in mobile and embedded telematics and wireless devices, software, Internet services and e-commerce. Kalisetty has extensive experience in conceiving and executing new business initiatives with public and startup companies. Prior to ATX, he was responsible for business development and marketing of the location-based services product portfolio of Clarity Communication Systems, where he built successful strategic partnerships with mobile carriers, content providers, telecommunication infrastructure vendors, GIS software providers, and handset manufacturers.

     
Fabio Pressi is Responsible for Marketing and Sales of Infoblu (Autostrade Group) , the Italian company that lead the market of traffic and traveller information services in Italy. Pressi was Director of Operations for Mizar and he created the first personalised services for the traveller in Italy after some years as Business Development for LBS market and Project Manager in many ITS applications and implementations. Pressi is an expert in Intelligent Transportation Systems and he followed the definition of many standards (DATEX, TMC..) and actually is the unique Italian member of the TISA Forum for the developing of Traveller Information Services He holds an Electronic Engineering degree from Politecnico of Turin.

 

   
Luca Pagni is EMEA Sales Manager of Birdstep Technology Inc. provider of embedded databases, serving - among others - companies manufacturing portable navigation devices and infotainment systems. He graduated Bocconi University in Italy with specialization in IT industry?s market evolution. In his previous position as CEO of ObexCode, Luca gained widespread knowledge of the mobile device market, working in close contact with manufacturers, service providers, mobile operators. Luca joined Birdstep in 2006 to lead EMEA Sales of the database division.
     
Chris Jones was one of the three founders of industry analyst firm Canalys in 1999. He led Canalys into its first market-specific analysis area, smart mobile devices, in 2000, and is still actively following the smart mobile device market. Since 2003 Chris has led the research into the mobile navigation and LBS market on a worldwide basis. Chris drove the content and recently keynoted at the Canalys Navigation Forum in Barcelona. He often presents at public events on mobile trends, especially around navigation and location-based services, and is one of the most quoted industry analysts globally on the subject.
     
Dr. Jeff Zhou is Head of Strategy and Marketing for Division Infotainment Solutions at VDO Automotive AG, A Company of the Continental Corporation, since 2004. In this function he is responsible for Strategic Planning, M&A, Business Development and Marketing. Before joining Siemens VDO Automotive he worked for four years as a Venture Manager at Siemens Technology Accelerator GmbH (a subsidiary of Siemens Corporate Technology) and was responsible for commercialization of non-core technologies (e.g. Spin-off, Technology sale and J.V. etc.). His work led to the successful spin-offs of EnOcean GmbH, Panoratio Database Images GmbH and sale of Siemens 2D optical inspection technology. Prior to that Jeff Zhou gained experiences in Business Development, Sales and Marketing at a start-up company and at Sartorius AG. Before this he has gained experiences in strategy development and implementation at Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman). Jeff Zhou holds a PhD in experimental particle physics from RWTH Aachen and spent several years at CERN in Geneva and at DESY in Hamburg for fundamental research.
     
Marc Prioleau Vice President of Marketing, deCarta. Marc brings 20 years of technology marketing, with emphasis in location technology and Internet search markets. Prior to deCarta, Marc directed the high-growth consumer and enterprise markets for SiRF Technology. Before SiRF, he held executive positions with Outride Inc. (advanced search technology acquired by Google) and Trimble Navigation, where he let marketing for embedded GPS products in the automotive and mobile computing sectors. He has a BS in Chemical Engineering/Materials Science from University of California, Davis and a Master's degree from Harvard Graduate School of Business.
     
Oliver Rousselange (41) leads the activities in Product planning und Marketing of Delphi´s Entertainment and Communications Productline in Europa. After he graduated from RWTH Aachen with a degree in Electronics Engineering he has held several positions as Software and Systems designer for video and broadcast applications. In 1998 he joined Delphi. In 2002 he took over the responsibility for Marketing and Product planning for various product lines.

Paul Smith is a geospatial industry veteran with over 25 years experience in GIS, remote sensing, and location-based data products. As a Vice President at DigitalGlobe, Mr. Smith develops key technology partnerships and business alliances. He joined DigitalGlobe through their acquisition of GlobeXplorer, where he was Chief Operating Officer and a founder. Under his direction, GlobeXplorer became an early leader in earth imagery content display now common on the Internet. He is a frequent speaker on location-based web services and has had extensive dealings with map search portals, navigation and location application companies, real estate and yellow page listing websites.

Henning Wiefelspuetz, Garmin - is responsible to manage and develop the overall business with some major European and global accounts (Car Manufacturers) within the Garmin OEM Automotive Business Development team. He has 12 years experience in Automotive. Henning started his career in the automotive world in a sales of the first generation in-car-navigation systems (CARiN) at Philips Car Systems. Before joining Garmin in 2007, Henning held a number of positions in Business Development, Product Management, Sales and Marketing with Philips Car Systems, Mannesmann VDO and Siemens VDO. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration
     
Stefan Brys joined Intel 2006 as a Business Development Manager responsible for In-Car Infotainment in Europe concentrating on Aftermarket products such as portable devices etc. He has more than 6 years experience within the Consumer and mobile Navigation segment. Before he joined Intel he was a Product Manager for a large German Consumer Company responsible for portable Navigation devices. Since more and more consumers value access to digital entertainment and productivity tools during the hours they spend in their Car Intel has the right solutions to serve these needs with Low Power iA products and a brought ecosystem.
     
Since 2001, Carsten Leininger, 34, holds the post of Managing Director of the iPUBLISH GmbH; as such, he is responsible for the business development in the field of virtual travel management and consulting. As Travel Scout Company, iPUBLISH is a digital spin-off of the GANSKE VERLAGSGRUPPE which includes, amongst others, the publishers Jahreszeiten Verlag, Hoffmann und Campe as well as Gr?e und Unzer. Under the brand name MERIAN scout, iPUBLISH produces travel guides for navigation systems since the beginning of the 1990s, being the market leader in that segment since. In addition to this executive function for iPUBLISH, Leininger took over the post of Managing Director of the GANSKE subsidiary TRAVEL HOUSE MEDIA in 2004 which produces the printed MERIAN travel guides and sells all ADAC, MERIAN and MICHELIN print products on the German-speaking book market.
     
Kate Edwards, Chief Executive Officer, Jentro Technologies GmbH
Kate has over 12 years of executive experience in successfully growing software and media services companies. Prior to joining Jentro, Kate was CEO of CenterPost Communications, the market leader in delivering robust, multi-channel communications so that companies can deliver personalized messages to their customers over their channel of choice. CenterPost completed a successful sale to West Corporation in February 2007. Prior to CenterPost, Kate also served as CFO and VP of Operations for BEZ Systems, Chief Strategist at CCC Information Services, General Manager at Playboy.com, and served in both the Audit and Mergers & Acquisitions practices at Arthur Andersen.
     

Christian Bubenheim, Vice President, Product Marketing,Magellan
Christian Bubenheim brings to Magellan nearly 20 years of experience in consumer electronics, during which time he drove the successful launch of new product categories and of existing categories into new geographies at companies such as Apple Computer, Compaq and Intel.

Bubenheim served at Magellan for nearly two years as senior director of consumer marketing before taking the role overseeing all of product marketing for the consumer business.

At Magellan, Bubenheim lead the worldwide team that created and launched the market-leading portable vehicle navigation system, the Magellan RoadMate™.

     
  With almost 20 years experience in the field of electronics and software systems for automobile, aeronautical and industrial applications, Aaron Solomon founded Mobile Devices in 2002. Before creating Mobile Devices, Aaron Solomon was the Director of the automobile business unit for a large engineering company in France and also managed their marketing activities Aaron obtained a post-graduate degree (DEA) in Electronics and Instrumentation from the University of Paris VI
     
Eric Chan most recently was the Head of Product Management and Co-Founder of Caboodle Networks, mobile search recommendation software using semantic web, where he file two patents in the area of mobile search. After starting Caboodle in 2003, he sold it to MCN in 2007. He has also held business development, product and marketing positions at Mobile Complete and Keynote, focused on partnerships and strategic alliances with Clickatell, Microsoft, Nokia, SonyEricsson, Sun Microsystems, Sybase, Symbian, and others. He led Product Marketing at Pixo, content download server software, acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2003. In addition, Chan is an Adjunct Faculty and Consulting Professor in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He holds an MS in Software Engineering and BS in Business Administration, both from Carnegie Mellon University. He also hosts a professional blog, Mobileslate, covering topics in mobile and wireless.
     
Michael Lightfoot, Head of Business Development for Multimap.  Since joining Multimap, Michael has been responsible for a broad range of initiatives.  He has been responsible for securing some of Multimap?s most strategic customers including BP, Hertz, Amadeus, Yamaha and Vodafone.  Most recently Michael has been focused on building Multimap?s presence in the mobile convergence space, with launches of both B2B and B2C products. Michael has over 7 years experience in the Geo-spatial industry and has been instrumental in championing the adoption of location in many business-critical IT projects.  Michael is also a passionate evangelist of mobile and the role ?location? plays in that digital experience. Before joining Multimap, he was responsible for evangelising Microsoft?s geo-spatial products throughout EMEA.
     
Joern Watzke, Vice President (VP) Product Line Management (PLM) NAVIGON AG, worked in several responsible business positions in the field of management and technical production before, as for example Director Product Realization, Manager Product Definition and as Software Developer at the Head Office of Siemens AG / BenQ Mobile in Munich. As a technical engineer and VP PLM he is currently leading following divisions and projects at NAVIGON AG since October 2006: Product Roadmap, Definition, Variant management, Design, Lifecycle Management, content, Partner Management, etc.
     

Lew Boore, Vice President of Marketing, NemeriX

Lew Boore is Vice President of Marketing for NemeriX’s global operations and is responsible for NemeriX’s market strategies, which include product marketing, marketing communications, strategic alliances, and partner programs across all regions. With 20 years in the semiconductor industry, Lew’s experience encompasses numerous positions in product development, sales, strategic business development and marketing. His roles have also included pioneering wireless business opportunities and strategic partnerships in Asia, EMEA, and South America.

Lew has held management and senior management positions at Hewlett-Packard, M/A-COM, PSElect, Memec, LLC and Xitron Technologies. His previous role before joining NemeriX was Vice President of Marketing of u-Nav Microelectronics, a GPS chipset provider.

     
Holger G. Weiss has over 7 years track record in location based services and personal navigation. He just returned from Hongkong where he led for 1.5 years Nokia’s global sales unit for navigation software on PNDs. Currently he serves as Head of Nokia Maps Partnership Management, Context Based Services in Nokia´s Services & Software Business Group. In this position he is responsible for hardware and development partnerships within the Nokia Maps platform. Mr Weiss joined Nokia in 2006 and is located in Berlin, Germany.
     
Fatima Vital, senior marketing manager at Nuance, is responsible for marketing Nuance?s market leading speech technology solutions to the automotive industry. Fatima started her career in 1995 as marketing manager at Philips. Since then, in a number of different marketing roles and assignments she gained extensive experience in marketing speech technology to different markets. In 2002, Fatima joined ScanSoft as marketing manager for network speech, and in October 2005 she became responsible for automotive speech marketing at Nuance (formerly ScanSoft).
     

Hakan Kostepan is responsible for Product Planning & Strategy of Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America. He has a broad Systems Engineering and Advanced Product Development experience with US Air Force, EDS, Ford Motor Company, and Panasonic Automotive Systems. Along with various Advanced Automotive Driver Information / Multimedia Systems development, he was also responsible for Jaguar S-Type Voice Recognition Systems Application. Mr. Kostepen received his BSEE from Istanbul Technical University, MSEE from University of North Dakota, and MSBA from US Air Force/Central Michigan University. Mr. Kostepen is a member of Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi and several other professional societies and holds patents in Advanced Automotive applications and technologies.

     

Christian Riesenberger has been working for PTV since 1992 when he joined as a consultant and project manager for several international projects in the field of transportation and traffic telematics. In 1999 he established the business unit Mobility within PTV AG, targeting the automotive and telematics industry as well as the wireless and internet industry. Headed by Christian, PTV Mobility expanded internationally, with the foundation of PTV Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. in 2006 completing this successful process. Since 2004 he oversees all sales and marketing activities of PTV Mobility. Christian holds a master degree in business administration/logistics.

     
Jed Rice, VP - Market Development, Skyhook Wireless At Skyhook Wireless, Mr. Rice is responsible for identifying and creating new market opportunities. Previously, he held a range of key positions managing market development at edocs and Siebel. Mr. Rice also worked as a corporate attorney after serving four years as an officer in the United States Army. He is a frequent speaker and commentator on a variety of topics in location based services.
     
Rainer Horn, Managing Partner ? SpaceTec Capital Partners AG Mr. Horn is Managing Partner of SpaceTec Capital Partners. Prior to joining SpaceTec in 2007 Mr. Horn was a Member of the Management Team of Booz Allen Hamilton as Director Business Operations. He led the Space Services/ Telematics team with clients in SatNav and Earth Observation Services. His consulting experience further spans automotive, telematics, transportation, internet services, telecommunications as well as state, federal and European institutions. Mr. Horn holds an international dual degree from ESB Reutlingen/London and a MBA from INSEAD (France). Joanne Blight, Director, launched the Automotive Multimedia and Communications Service (AMCS) Service for Strategy Analytics in 1999, focused upon the global Automotive multimedia and communications service , infotainment and communications markets. With her extensive knowledge of the evolving product and services marketplace, Ms. Blight provides business development insights to the client base of leading automotive, consumer electronics, software and wireless companies worldwide.
     
Dr. Brona Collins is Key Account Manager in the Professional Services Department. She received her Ph.D. from Trinity College, Dublin in 1998. The Hitachi-funded research applied an artificial intelligence model of reasoning to machine translation. Brona then joined L&H Belgium as Project Manager for the TTS product, RealSpeak. She returned to Ireland in 2001 to work as Localisation Manager for Berlitz, and HMI design consultant for the IDD. From 2003-5 she worked in Freiburg, Germany as programmer of database interfaces and self-assessment tools for an environmental NGO called ICLEI. In April 2005, she joined SVOX to put her experience with speech solutions, interface design, and technical project management to use by managing several key automotive accounts
     
Rob Van Essen graduated within Cartography (Geography) from the State University Utrecht in 1990. Currently he is globally responsible for Tele Atlas Strategic Research and Development which comprises map research, prototypes of maps and map related functionalities, advanced engineering and standardisation. He is convenor of ISO/TC204 SWG 3.1: GDF
     
Dr. Aldo Ofenheimer is Management Assistant of the TeleConsult Austria GmbH covering the field of precise positioning and reliable navigation, particularly the areas of development and combination of navigation-, telecommunication-, and information technologies, and services for applications in the context of transport and mobility. His work within the European automotive R&D scene includes technical consultancy, system design and analysis, and predictive computational modelling. Aldo Ofenheimer is also involved in several national and European R&D activities dealing with the development of strategies for new products and services for tomorrow?s automotive industry and car drivers.
     
Dr. Egil Juliussen is principal technology analyst for TRG. He has more than 25 years experience in the computer, communications, and telematics industries and has published over 400 industry reports, conference papers, and publications. Dr. Juliussen's first technology report (IBM's Billion Dollar Baby, co-authored with Portia Isaacson, Ph.D. in August of 1981) accurately predicted the impact of the personal computer. His areas of expertise include information technology products such as PDAs, mobile communications, Internet appliances, and vehicle telematics. He is a frequent speaker at telematics conferences around the world and is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
     
Giles Shrimpton joined TomTom in May 2007 as Managing Director Automotive and is responsible to manage and develop the overall business with Car Manufacturers. Before joining TomTom, Giles Shrimpton held a number of Senior Sales, Marketing and General Management positions with Philips Electronics, Siemens VDO and Valeo mainly focused on the Automotive market. He has a wide international experience including being based in the UK, Holland, Belgium, France and USA. Giles Shrimpton holds degrees in Systems Analysis and Management.
     
Robert S. Marshall, President & CEO
Bob Marshall co-founded AWS, the parent company of WeatherBug, in 1992 and currently serves as company president and CEO. Marshall pioneered the networking of weather instrumentation and cameras using the Internet parlaying this capability into the single, largest network of weather stations and Internet cameras in the world. Marshall is responsible for developing innovative delivery methods of time sensitive information via unique advertising platforms and the most notable temperature next to the clock ion the PC.
Prior to launching AWS, Marshall served as a program manager and lead engineer at BBN (formerly Bolt, Beranek and Newman, the company credited with starting the Internet) on a number of advanced military sensor, signal processing
and networking programs.
     
Marc Alyari is the product marketing manager for navigation on mobile
phones at Webraska.
Prior to joining Webraska, Marc worked with In-Fusio as the Head of Development and then as a Sales Project Manager for France.
He helped to the launch of the first downloadable gaming services at Orange France and managed the launch of Java gaming services at Vodafone Live! for SFR. Marc also worked for Schlumberger - Smart Cards (now Gemalto) as a Project Manager and coordinated the development of the first Java Card for GSM market.
Marc Alyari holds an Executive MBA from ESSEC (Paris) and two M. Scs; one in Robotics from Université Pierre & Marie Curie (Paris) and another one in Automated Production from ISAII (Arles).
