Rules of entry

Nominations are open to any company operating in the Telematics industry. To make sure your award nomination is as strong as possible, read the rules for nominations below.

Rules for nomination:

  1. Personalize each nomination. If you are nominating across multiple categories make sure to personalize each nomination to suit the category.
  2. Provide as much information as possible - within the 300 word limit. This will help the panel of judges identify and gauge the significance of your success within a specific category. Be concise and precise.
  3. Explain why you are different. The Telematics Awards celebrate achievement and innovation within the telematics market, so explain clearly in your entry how your nomination differentiates your company from others and why the award is deserved.
  4. All products must be on the market at the time of nomination. Any product, service or solution nominated that is only in research and development stage will not qualify.

Comprehensive Judging Process

  • Entries will be judged on the basis of the nomination submitted to the independent judging panel
  • Details of the judging panel meetings will not be disclosed
  • Entries will be treated as strictly confidential. Only details of the award winners and selected nominated entries in each category will be published
  • The decision of the judges is final. No correspondence or debate will be entered into. But please bear in mind that we do no support any form of nepotism and these awards have been designed to promote meritocracy

Thilo Koslowski Thilo Koslowski

Thilo Koslowski is Vice President and Lead Automotive Analyst at Gartner Inc., the largest technology advisory company in the world.  Mr. Koslowski advises international business and technology leaders in the automotive, telematics, communication and consumer electronics industries on how to maximize business opportunities, create innovation and establish strong, cross-industry partnerships.  He also has been an advisor for global government agencies focusing on economic growth and improvements in transportation.  Mr. Koslowski’s strategic guidance focuses on the automotive demand & supply chains and vehicle-centric information and communication technologies (Vehicle ICT).

Before joining Gartner, Mr. Koslowski was a Lead Consultant in Gartner’s Consulting Practice where he managed global consulting assignments for companies in the emerging technologies markets. Prior to that, he worked in various marketing and strategy positions for a premium, European automaker.  Mr. Koslowski graduated with honors from the Technical University (RWTH) Aachen in Germany and holds a master's degree in Business Studies with majors in Marketing, European Economy and Production Engineering.
As Gartner’s lead analyst for the automotive industry, Mr. Koslowski is regularly quoted in global publications, TV and radio broadcasts including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, The Economist and many others.
Dominique Bonte Dominique Bonte

Dominique Bonte is responsible for ABI Research's global telematics, location and navigation coverage which includes connected car, PNDs, digital maps, real-time traffic information, navigation content, ITS, automotive operating systems, connected automotive infotainment, commercial telematics, fleet management systems, positioning technologies, person tracking, location-based advertising and social networking, outdoor, sports, GPS fitness devices and solutions, GPS semiconductors and LBS. Bonte is also responsible for ABI Research's M2M and embedded coverage including M2M modules, connections and platforms, wireless healthcare, smart grids, smart cities, home automation, smart commercial buildings, as well as retail, and industrial segments. 

Past Experience, Memberships, Accolades and Media 

Dominique's background includes a wealth of telecommunication and mobile device applications experience. He worked for Orange and BT in Belgium, as well as holding a variety of positions at consumer/industrial technology companies assuming roles in product management and market research and intelligence. He later started his own company in software consulting for mobile devices, where he acquired extensive experience in mobile satellite navigation software.

Education He holds an MS in electronics engineering at the University of Leuven, and has earned several marketing and business degrees.
Roger Lanctot

Roger Lanctot, Automotive Consultant, has 20-plus years of experience in the technology industry as an industry analyst, journalist and consultant. Before joining Strategy Analytics, Mr. Lanctot was director of business development at iSuppli Corporation, which acquired Telematics Research Group in July of 2008. He also directed sales and business development for TRG for five years prior to the acquisition, focusing on aftermarket and portable device segments in the emerging telematics market. Prior to TRG he directed research and business development at NPD and PC Data.

Mr. Lanctot was Research Editor for Computer Retail Week, and also had editorial positions at Fairchild Publication’s HFN and Hearst Business Communications’ Office World News. In addition, he held research positions with other media companies.

Roger Lanctot is a graduate of Dartmouth College.

Andrew is a strong believer in the role that great market research can (and should) play in helping companies innovate. He is responsible for setting the direction of research within SBD, and ensuring that the key messages are clearly communicated to customers and the wider industry. Whilst originally from a mechanical engineering background, he now works tirelessly with customers and speaks passionately at conferences to encourage a change of mind-set within the automotive industry away from engineering-based solutions and towards consumer-centric innovations.

David McNamara is President of McNamara Technology Solutions - consulting for active safety & wireless technology, new business development & mentoring of automotive suppliers. Key clients are the Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) Consortium as the applications project leader and Telcordia for new business development. Prior to 2006, Dave was Manager, Advanced Infotainment Systems, Ford Motor Company's Research. At Ford Research, he developed new Infotainment features to enhance brand differentiation. He developed music/phone connectivity solutions with Jaguar, Land Rover & Volvo brands as the forerunner of the Ford/Microsoft Sync project.

Prior to Ford Research, Dave was Manager, Multimedia, responsible for production design of Lincoln, Mercury, and Ford Brands: audiophile, multimedia, and navigation systems. Before coming to Ford in 1995 from Visteon, Ford's electronics manufacturing division at that time, he had varied engineering assignments that have provided product design and manufacturing experience with Powertrain sensors, electronic instrumentation/displays, multiplex systems (J1850/CAN based), voice control and instrument panel/body subsystem electronic architecture.

He is active in the Society of Automotive Engineers, IEEE, and is an invited speaker to several conferences which include the Telematics Update events. He follows the annual Consumer Electronics Show closely, for which he issues a detailed report covering the automotive related developments. He has co-authored an invited paper for the Proceedings of the IEEE with his former Ford Research colleagues titled, “Control, Computing and Communications: Technologies for the Twenty-First Century Model T.” He received his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering form the University of Michigan in 1973 and his Masters Degree in solid-state physics from the University of Florida in 1975. He holds six patents in the areas of prognostics, navigation and security systems.

Precksha holds an MA in International Journalism from City University in London.
