Don Butler is executive director, Connected Vehicle and Services, Ford Motor Company, effective Jan. 1, 2014. He reports to Raj Nair, group vice president, Global Product Development.

In this role, Butler is responsible for Ford’s global integrated connectivity vision and strategy. He leads the development of a near-, mid- and long-term plan for implementation with the goals of delivering a best-in-class customer experience inside and outside of the vehicle.

Butler most recently was vice president, Cadillac Global Strategy for General Motors, where he led the development of the strategy for Cadillac’s global expansion.

Butler began his 30-year career with GM, as an engineer, and went on to hold a variety of executive roles, including vice president, Global and OEM business for OnStar, GM’s telematics business, and chairman and managing director of General Motors Egypt.

He left GM in 2009 to become vice president, Marketing and Product Planning for INRIX, a vehicle traffic and data services start up. He returned to GM in 2010 as vice president of Cadillac Marketing.

Butler earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the then-General Motors Institute, now Kettering University. He also holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

He is based in Dearborn, Mich.

Philip M. Abram, chief infotainment officer for General Motors, is responsible for setting and implementing a global infotainment strategy for Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC, OnStar, Opel, Vauxhaul and Holden.

Abram joined GM in January 2012, after serving as president and chief operating officer for Sonos, Inc., a wireless music system for homes. At Sonos, Abram headed up product management, worldwide sales and marketing, inventory, logistics and sales operations.

From 1996 to 2007, Abram held a number of positions in business development, product management and engineering. From 2005 to 2007, he was vice president and senior general manager, marketing for Sony Electronics, responsible for Sony’s television business in the US. Prior to that, he held a number of positions at Sharp Electronics and Eastman Kodak.

Phil holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Gannon University and an MBA in finance from the University of Rochester. Abram has eight patents to his credit, everything from digital imaging to internet services.

Before assuming these leadership roles, Tom held a number of  positions of increasing importance, ranging  from sales to general management, in the battery and electronic component divisions of these Panasonic industrial groups. The consistent thread throughout his management career has been a B2B focus and and an ability to meet the demanding requirements of the world’s leading high-technology giants.

Prior to coming to Panasonic, Tom served in a technical sales role for Duracell Battery and in a similar capacity for an electronic component distributor.

Tom earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Northern Illinois University and has done extensive postgraduate work at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, including a yearlong executive program.

Other activities include board membership with Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, the March of Dimes, Arden Shore Family Charities, the Service Council and participation in the executive-in-residence program at Northern Illinois University.

As global director of innovation and design for Visteon Corporation, based in Van Buren Township, Mich., Tim Yerdon is responsible for tracking and analyzing market trends and voice-of-theconsumer data, and translating it into first-to-market product solutions. He leads a global multifunctional team chartered with the ideation, concept development and commercialization of innovative, market-driven concepts. The team includes program managers, engineers, industrial designers, experience design experts for the human machine interaction and market researchers.

Working with key internal functions, he also oversees the company’s intellectual property portfolio and technical collaborations with various companies, universities, government agencies and other industry partners. These, as well as other initiatives, all drive toward more open collaboration and innovation in the industry.

Yerdon has more than 19 years of automotive experience. Previously he led advanced cockpit electronics, advanced driver awareness systems, the InnovationWorks® organization and the North American marketing team for Visteon. He also held various positions in manufacturing, product development, program management and racing at both Visteon and Ford Motor Co.

Yerdon has a master's degree in manufacturing systems from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering technology from Penn State University. He is the coinventor on several patents awarded and pending in manufacturing, powertrain, electronics and interiors. He also serves on the board of directors for the automotive electronics division of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is a charter member of the OESA (Original Equipment Suppliers Association) Automotive Suppliers Technology Forum and sits on the advisory board of AutoHarvest.org; an open innovation marketplace.

Prior to taking on this role, Frank was the Technical Strategy Manager for Volkswagen Group of America reporting into the Electronics Research Lab in Palo Alto, CA. There he was responsible for coordinating the Engineering Research activities with Product Strategy, resulting in the application of new technologies for the North American Market. Prior to joining QNX, Mr. Kuhn held senior positions at Alcatel-Lucent, including vice president of emerging technology and media, and vice president of strategy for the Americas region in the office of the CTO/CMO. As a global business lead, he was responsible for the company's ecosystem of emerging technologies, including 4G mobile connectivity.

He also conceived and led the ng Connect Program, a multi-industry initiative dedicated to the development and rapid deployment of next-generation broadband services based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) and other ultra high bandwidth technologies. As such, he drove the development of the original LTE Connected Car, which was launched by the program in 2009 — the most advanced connected car at the time.

Mr. Kuhn sits on the Board of Directors of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA).

From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Kuhn served as chairman of the Broadband Content Delivery Forum, where he helped grow the organization to twice its original size. From 2008 to 2010, he sat as a board member of the University of Southern California's Entertainment Technology Center in the School of Cinematic Arts.

In 2010, Mr. Kuhn won Alcatel-Lucent's CEO award.

His diverse background has contributed significantly to the company’s expansion from a regional automotive engineering and technology development concern into a global, diversified organization specializing in automotive solutions.

While in ESG, Duggal led the Open Market Handset (OMH) initiative, an industry wide effort to expand CDMA device distribution into the open market.

Prior to joining Qualcomm, Duggal was a product engineer at Tata Telecom in India, where he was responsible for product management and systems engineering for the company’s wire-line switching systems.

Duggal holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University, India and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Management.

Bart Brotsos is a Technology Sales Manager at Oracle supporting Partner Business Development for ISV & OEM’s.  In his six years at Oracle, Bart has helped to spearhead Oracle’s efforts on the Connected Vehicle Reference Architecture.  The Oracle Connected Vehicle is a set of building block embeddable core technology components for vehicle to back-end architecture use with OEM’s and Tier 1 and 2 suppliers.  Bart has worked closely with Engineering and Marketing at OEM’s and suppliers who consider enhancing their telematics solutions by building their IP on top of Oracle technology.  Technology components include Complex Event Processing, small foot print databases, communications software, Java, BI and user dashboard tools.

Oracle has recently opened a New Industry Solution Accelerator for demonstration and rapid deployment of the Connected Vehicle.

Implementors of the Oracle Connected Vehicle platforms include Hyundai, Mazda, Toyota, OnStar, Mercedes, Nissan and VW.

Bart is a member of the Oracle Automotive Industry Board and a Board Member of the Connected Vehicle Trade Association.  He was a panelist speaker at Insurance Telematics USA 2012.

Prior to Oracle, Bart was at Sun Microsystems for fifteen years as a Director in OEM embedded software sales management, Strategic Investments and M&A, and Channel Sales Operations.  He has followed his passion by working with software and the auto industry throughout his career including sales of manufacturing systems, robotics and CAD/CAM software, operating systems and embedded technology. 

As a double alumni of Northwestern University and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Bart has a BA in Economics and a MBA in MIS and Marketing.  Bart resides in Chicago with his wife and two children and enjoys playing sand volleyball, basketball as well as skiing and biking.
