Phil
Magney
Principal Analyst, Telematics Research Group Phil
Magney, founder and principal analyst for TRG, has nearly
20 years experience in the computer, communications, and telematics
industries. He has been an industry analyst since 1987 with
core specialties in computer technologies and telematics.
Phil is also a specialist in automotive safety and control
and is an active ITS member. He has regularly written columns
and papers for industry trade publications and is a frequent
speaker at industry conferences in the US, Europe and Japan.
Phil Magney earned a Bachelors Degree from the University
of Minnesota in 1982. |

Cole
SVP, Wireless Practice Leader, Adventis
Mr. Cole heads the ADVENTIS Global Wireless Communications
Practice. Mr. Cole has a Masters degree in Business from Oxford
University and works extensively in the European, Asian and
North American continents.
With over ten years of communications market consulting experience
and a recognized expertise in the wireless space, Mr. Cole
is increasingly relied upon to provide industry insight and
direction. His clients include leaders in the telematics space
such as GM Onstar, Toyota, and Sprint PCS. He is also an active
member of Board of Advisors for important wireless start-ups
such as SkyGo, Survol and Visage Mobile. |

Axel
Fuchs
Managing Partner, Cogenia Partners
Axel Fuchs has worked actively in intelligent vehicles and
telematics for the past 12 years. He established first US
intelligent vehicle research for Daimler Chrysler and co-founded
the Daimler-Chrysler Research and Technology office in Palo
Alto, California. Prior to establishing Cogenia Partners,
he managed Systems Engineering at Motorola’s Telematics
Communications Group. Axel Fuchs graduated from Darmstadt
University of Technology, Germany with a Doctorate in Electrical
Engineering. |

Forkin
Partner and Executive Director of the Emerging Industries
Business Sector, J.D. Power and Associates
Frank Forkin is a Partner and Executive Director of the Emerging
Industries Business Sector
at J.D. Power and Associates.He is responsible for overseeing
the business relationships with
several specific industries such as finance, insurance, marine,
motorcycle, automotive
components and travel. In addition, Mr. Forkin is responsible
for extending the J.D. Power
and Associates’ product and service portfolio to new
industries currently not being serviced.
With more than 20 years of experience in the market information
field for a wide variety of
products and service industries,Mr. Forkin has become a leader
among his peers in
quantitative research. Prior to joining J.D. Power and Associates,
he held the position of
senior vice president of the RDA Group, where he was heavily
involved in new business
development, strategic planning and consulting.
Mr. Forkin is a member of the American Statistical Association,
the American Marketing
Association and the SAS Users Group International. Mr. Forkin
earned a master’s degree in
applied statistics from Louisiana State University and a bachelor’s
degree in geophysics from
Central Michigan University. |

Karsten Fels joined the Automotive business unit of Dornier
Consulting as a Senior Project Manager in 2002 and is responsible
for identifying new business opportunities. Prior to this
position he worked in research, development and marketing
organizations of DaimlerChrysler focusing on telematics. Karsten
defined and managed several telematics projects and has a
strong international background |

Thilo
Koslowski
Lead Analyst and Director - Automotive Research, Gartner
With responsibility for the U.S. automotive market, Mr. Koslowski
assists strategists in the automotive industry in guiding
and growing their business. His research centers around critical
automotive topics related to the automotive demand and supply
chains, in-vehicle information and communication technologies
and business-to-employee related initiatives.
Before joining Gartner, Mr. Koslowski was a consultant in
GartnerConsulting's Executive Market Analysis Program, where
he participated in customized domestic and international consulting
assignments for vendors in the services and e-business markets.
Prior to that, he worked in various marketing positions for
a German automaker. Mr. Koslowski graduated with honors from
the Technical University (RWTH) Aachen, Germany and holds
a master's degree in Business Studies with majors in Marketing,
European Economy and Production Engineering. As Gartner's
lead analyst for the automotive vertical, Mr. Koslowski is
regularly quoted in global publications, TV and radio broadcasts
including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, CNET,
BBC, Automotive News, Red Herring, Computerworld, ABC News
and others. |

Tomas
Gabinus
Executive Director, Telematics Valley Tomas Gabinus
was employed by Telematics Valley as Executive Director April
-02. Prior to that he was heading the Business Development
team within WirelessCar, a joint venture between Volvo, Ericsson
and Telia. Previously Tomas Gabinus has been heading a unit
within Ericsson focussing on telematics and location dependent
services. He has also worked as an expert within ITS and Telematics
both at the Swedish ministry of transport and at ERTICO in
Brussels. |

Joanne Downie
Director, Automotive and Telematics Practice, Strategy Analytics
Joanne Downie has over 15 years experience of market
analysis, research and planning of emerging technology markets.
She has been a market analyst, service director and business
development manager for a wide range of syndicated, subscription
based market analysis services within Strategy Analytics,
and its predecessor, BIS Mackintosh. Her experience of emerging
technology markets includes the cellular/wireless, fixed wire
telecoms, B2B Internet and automotive sectors.
In 1999, Ms. Downie launched Strategy Analytics’ “In-Vehicle
Telematics & Multimedia Service” (ITMS), a market
advisory service focusing on the in-vehicle telematics, infotainment
and communications markets. ITMS currently has a client base
of over 35 leading automotive, consumer electronics and wireless
companies, worldwide.
Prior to joining BIS Mackintosh in 1989, Ms. Downie spent
4 years in the aerospace industry developing business planning
models.
She is an honours graduate in Mathematics and Statistics
from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK, and speaks
both English and French.

Bernie Wagenblast
E ditor, Transportation Communications Newsletter Bernie
Wagenblast is the editor of the Transportation Communications
Newsletter, a daily e-mail publication with over 4,900 subscribers.
In addition, Bernie is a Senior Associate with TransCore,
a transportation consulting company. Bernie also provides
the voice for several transportation-related services, including
the AirTrains at John F. Kennedy International Airport and
Newark Liberty International Airport.
Bernie had his start in the transportation field as one of
the original on-air Shadow Traffic reporters in New York City.
After five years of radio traffic reporting he joined the
New York City Department of Transportation, helping to establish
the city's first transportation communications center. He
then joined the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey
and was operations manager at TRANSCOM, a unique coalition
of transportation agencies in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
He also was involved in the start of the I-95 Corridor Coalition,
serving as the co-chair of the Highway Operations Group.
Following over a decade of work in the public sector, Bernie
rejoined the private sector serving as the NYC Director of
Operations for SmartRoute Systems and then joining TransCore. |
