Industry Overview

The fleet telematics market is mature in terms of years but not penetration. It has been estimated by industry executives interviewed for this report that only around 20% of the North American fleet market has some form of telematics solution. It is anticipated that a penetration rate of 40% will be required for the technology to achieve critical mass.

With more than 10years commercial telematics deployment there is a wealth of information regarding potential return on investment, cost analysis and increased productivity through telematics. This report seeks to discover why telematics suppliers continue to innovate and yet fleet managers remain reserved.

The fleet telematics market is on the verge of great change. Fleet telematics is undergoing significant consolidation as larger companies such as Trimble acquire niche providers, while wireless carriers and larger fleet owners introduce their own products. Fleet owners are yet to experience the ‘silver bullet’ solution to fleet management that many expect from the promises made by telematics providers over the last decade. The connected fleet report provides crucial analysis on the development of the fleet telematics market.
