Bruce attended York University where he obtained a degree in Political Science and an honours degree in Public Policy and Administration.

After graduation, Bruce worked for a property and casualty insurance company for five years prior to joining the Ontario Insurance Commission in 1992. Bruce has held a number of positions with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, including Mediator with the Dispute Resolution Group and Manager of the Automobile Insurance Compliance Unit.

Bruce is currently the Senior Manager of the Rates and Classifications Unit at FSCO. He lives in Toronto with his wife and two children.

Laurie Balfour is currently the Acting Deputy Superintendent of Insurance, as well as the Senior Manager Financial Compliance in the Insurance Regulation and Market Conduct Branch of the Government of Alberta. Laurie joined the Government of Alberta in November 2008 and assumed responsibility of relationship manager for all Alberta regulated insurance entities.

Over the last five years she has worked collaboratively with the Alberta insurers and reciprocals to monitor and evaluate not only financial solvency, but the strength of their governance and risk management practices and procedures. Since June 2013, in the role of Acting Deputy Superintendent of Insurance, Laurie has taken on the additional responsibility of working with industry and stakeholders with respect to the licensing and market conduct regulation of insurers in Alberta.

Colin Wright founded Corner Two Consulting with the objective of helping clients prepare for the advent of UBI. Colin first acquired expertise in the field when he led strategy, product and market development for Aviva’s Autograph, the first telematics-enabled UBI program in Canada.
While leading Autograph, he profitably managed the portfolio, notably improving risk quality. As the subject matter expert and champion for the category, he raised awareness of UBI, moving it to the forefront of Aviva’s ‘Change Insurance’ agenda, and secured a significant budget for product and business case development. Colin led the definition of the next-generation, wireless version of the UBI product and facilitated design of the systems architecture. Ted currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Regroupement des Cabinets de Courtage d’Assurance du Québec as Secretary Treasurer, he is Vice Chairman of the board of the CSIO and is a director of IBAC where he also serves on the technology committee.

In addition to his experience running a mid-sized insurance brokerage in Montréal, Ted has diverse experience in claims, human resources, marketing and branch operations.
