Pawel J. Stelmaszczyk has heldHead of Unit positions in the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission since March 2009. He currently manages the ITS Unit in charge of development and implementation of EU policy in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems. The policy areas previously covered by the Unit managed by Mr Stelmaszczyk included logistics, co-modality, inland waterways, motorways of the sea and the Marco Polo Programme.

Prior to joining the Commission, Mr Stelmaszczyk served as Vice President of the management Board of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment and Information Agency (PAIiIZ). He also served as a President of the Management Board of TechnoPort Warszawa - Warsaw Technology Park and held high-level management positions at Microsoft and Intel Corporations with responsibilities for implementation of Public Affairs strategies in the Central/Eastern Europe and EMEA regions respectively.

Mr Stelmaszczyk holds a Master of Arts degrees in International Economics and in International Trade and Public Policy from the George Washington and George Mason Universities in the United States as well as an MBA degree from the Ecole Supérieur des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC) in Paris. Most recently, he has completed his post-graduate studies in e-Business Management at the Warsaw Technical University.

Tim Leinmüller received his joint-degree in Electrical Engineering from ENST-Paris and University of Stuttgart in 2003. From 2003 to 2007 he was with DaimlerChrysler AG Group Research and Advanced Engineering. In 2007 he joined DENSO AUTOMOTIVE Deutschland GmbH.

His activities at DENSO focus on R&D and standardization in the area of V2X Communication. He is representing DENSO in the Car2Car Communication Consortium (C2C-CC) where he is also co-chairing the architecture working. He serves as DENSO’s official contact to ETSI and he is contributing to the standardization efforts in ETSI TC ITS (technical committee for intelligent transport systems).

His prior research activities include participation in several European research projects such as OverDRIVE, Ambient Networks and Sevecom. He contributed to IETF NEMO (Network Mobility) WG during the development of Internet RFC 3963 (Network Mobility (NEMO) Basic Support Protocol).

Before joining ERTICO, Pierpaolo was Project Officer of the European Commission in the Unit "ICT for Transport" and later on in the unit "Smart Cities and Sustainability". At the European Commission, he also worked on the deployment of the eCall service, standardisation and legislation.

He previously worked at EUROCONTROL on the implementation of the Single European Sky legislation.

Wilhelm Steger is a senior executive manager who heads Delphi’s business unit for Infotainment & Driver Interface in Europe, Middle-East and Africa. He is also a member of the management board of Delphi Deutschland GmbH. In his current role, he is responsible for the entire interior electronics portfolio such as head units, clusters, displays, center stacks, switches, steering column modules, roof modules and multi-functional antennas.


Before joining Delphi in early 2009, Dr. Steger served as executive vice president for the automotive multimedia business segment at Continental AG, which had acquired the SiemensVDO group in 2007. Prior to that, he oversaw the same business unit as its senior vice president for strategic marketing, product management and advanced technologies. In that role, he supported major growth in Asia both by successful bookings with Asian customers and merger and acquisition activities in Korea.
Dr. Steger began his industry career at Siemens AG as director of marketing at Siemens’ Controls and Drives for Machine Tools, Robots and Special Machines Division.
Prior to that, he served as senior scientist and manager of the Technical Data Processing Group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart, Germany.
A German native, Wilhelm Steger earned a Ph.D. from the University of Stuttgart and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University Munich.

Kevin Link is co-founder of Hughes Telematics, Inc. (HTI) a telematics service company, and currently serves as Vice President. In this position, he is responsible for product research and development, branding, marketing, public relations and assists with defining overall corporate strategy.

Link created the initial business model and strategic plan for HTI, and has been very instrumental in shaping the future services for consumers, OEMs and dealers. Link is very involved in industry research and is a key contributor to the thought leadership within industry organizations and trade associations.

Link is a proven entrepreneur who previously served as CEO of Altius Solutions, a company he founded in 1999 to support multiple entrepreneurial initiatives involving vehicle telematics. Altius Solutions designed, developed, and manufactured complex vehicle "black boxes" for research purposes. Altius Solutions' clients included NHTSA, Department of Transportation, Federal Highway and many research universities and academia. Through Altius, Link was able to develop a command of the telematics landscape, industry challenges, and also work with leading edge experts to craft solutions. This experience provided the platform for which HTI was built.

Link earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from North Carolina State University, and is a licensed CPA and CMA.

He also directed sales and business development for TRG for five years prior to the acquisition, focusing on aftermarket and portable device segments in the emerging telematics market. Prior to TRG he directed research and business development at NPD and PC Data.


Mr. Lanctot was Research Editor for Computer Retail Week, and also had editorial positions at Fairchild Publication’s HFN and Hearst Business Communications’ Office World News. In addition, he held research positions with other media companies.

Roger Lanctot is a graduate of Dartmouth College.

Derek is General Manager of the European audio/navigation product planning and telematics programme at Toyota's European Headquarters in Brussels.

After gaining a Chemistry degree from Birmingham University in the UK, Derek spent the early years of his career in the brewing industry. He completed an MBA at Warwick University in 1989 and became the principal researcher in an automotive supply chain performance project.

In 1992 he joined Toyota while the UK factory was under construction, and set up the pricing and business planning functions. From the late 90s, his scope expanded to include the new factories in Turkey, France, Poland and Russia.

With the development of Toyota's European manufacturing group Derek moved to Toyota's Brussels Office in 2001, where he developed the manufacturing group planning and management processes. In 2008 he moved to Strategic Production Planning and this was followed by assignments in New Business Development, and Cross Car Line Product Planning & Marketing.

He leads a team of highly-experienced individuals responsible for setting and delivering on Vodafone's global strategy in the ConnectedCar space and brings a myriad of experience from the automotive and emerging technology worlds.

Prior to Vodafone, David was the European Head of Automotive Business Development at traffic-information company INRIX (formerly ITIS) and was the founder/Managing Director of the German traffic business ITIS Deutschland. David joined ITIS from Hewlett-Packard where he spent 7 years in a variety of mobile technology positions; laterally as part of the CTO organisation running a joint-venture with Nokia in Europe. 

David has a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Manchester and an MBA from the Manchester Business School.

Rémi Demerlé has extensive experience in the telematics industry. He is a wireless telematics expert and blogs about the Automotive Industry and ITS. Rémi resides near Paris, in France. He has an engineering degree in electronics and telecoms from Institut National Polytechnique of Grenoble and has been working for several companies including Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, Sanmina SCI, and Wavecom (now Sierra Wireless).

Andy is one of Europe's leading specialists in work-related road risk management, and helps Zurich's customers fully understand the risks they face, meet their health and safety obligations and sustainably reduce their collision rates across Europe and beyond.

Andy graduated from the University of Southampton in 1984 with a B.Sc. in chemistry. He has worked in various technical and marketing positions within Permabond, an ICI subsidiary, where he was given responsibility for managing the safety of the company's European vehicle fleet in the early 1990's.  This ultimately led to Permabond being recognised as having one of the safest fleets in the UK. Andy's work at Permabond was recognised in both 1999 and 2000 when he won the Fleet News Risk Management award.

Andy's personal commitment to safe driving was commended in the late 1990's when he was twice an individual finalist in The Times / Lease Plan Company Car Driver of the year competition, and was a member of the winning team when the competition was last held in 1998.

The work-related road risk management philosophy and strategy that Andy has developed since joining Zurich was recognised in 2009 with a prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award, with many of Zurich's customers also winning fleet safety awards for their achievements.
